As part of the Interreg project eTOM-AT HU, we visited innovative educational institutions in Hamburg in mid-June 2026 together with project partners from Vienna, Lower Austria, and Hungary – from kindergartens and schools to universities. The focus of the working meeting was on how children and young people can best be prepared for the world of work and life in the future.
We were particularly impressed by the Heidberg district school in Langhorn, which makes future skills such as creativity, critical thinking, communication, and digital literacy visible and tangible in everyday school life: the work of the student council, the all-day program with its break-time activities, the diverse teaching settings, the use of the “Purple Room,” the use of the learning log, and the new learning spaces in the O-House.
With its lived culture of inclusion, appreciation, and diversity, the school impressively demonstrated how modern education can succeed. We are delighted that we were able to secure this district school for our Vienna school partnerships!
