The European Office of the Board of Education for Vienna implements numerous initiatives to foster the European dimension in Viennese schools and is the focal point for international and European affairs:

International contacts and public relations to support Europe-wide educational cooperation
Initiation, planning and implementation of EU-funded projects
Development of pedagogical quality measures within the framework of various projects
Teaching materials & workshops to support school initiatives
Promoting Erasmus+ school partnerships & international exchange

The main focus of all projects is the development and strengthening of the European Key Competences for Lifelong Learning. See recommendation of the Council of the European Union.
These competences are particularly needed for personal development, for societal integration, for active citizenship and for employability. Therefore, the European Office is constantly planning new projects.

Initiatives at the interface between school and career entry/career orientation
Sustainable cross-border cooperation (schools, educational regions, educational institutions, administrative authorities …)
Informing about the key competences and competence orientation consultation
Database with materials developed in projects on the European key competences for lifelong learning: tutorials, online games, teaching examples…
Development and implementation of quality measures in the educational regions: entrepreneurship education, preventive support measures, MINT, digital skills…
Guidelines to support school development processes (e.g. ‘multilingualism’, ‘gender’)
