The European Office of the Board of Education for Vienna implements numerous initiatives to foster the European dimension in Viennese schools and is the focal point for international and European affairs.

  • Initiation, planning and implementation of EU-funded projects
  • Development of school initiatives in the context of various projects
  • International contacts and public relations

The main focus of all projects is the development and strengthening of the European Key Competences for Lifelong Learning. See recommendation of the Council of the European Union.
These competences are particularly needed for personal development, for societal integration, for active citizenship and for employability. Therefore, the European Office is constantly planning new projects.

  • Development and implementation of quality measures in the education regions (e.g. entrepreneurship education, preventive support measures, MINT, digital competences …)
  • Development and implementation of pupil workshops (e.g. coding and robotics)
  • Database of teaching materials developed by the projects to foster the eight key competences (e.g. CLIL material, tutorials, teaching examples …)
  • Entrepreneurship brunches for school classes
  • Development and implementation of an online game in the field of ‚Entrepreneurship Education‘
  • Mobility for ‘educational staff’ and students
  • Guidelines to support school development processes (e.g. ‘multilingualism’, ‘gender’)
  • Informing about the key competences and competence orientation consultation
  • Sustainable cross-border cooperation (schools, educational regions, educational institutions, administrative authorities …)
  • Initiatives at the interface between school and career entry/career orientation
