Radical propaganda and early signs of extremism coming from various ideological backgrounds are particularly targeting young audiences. This is currently a very important topic in Austria especially with the rapid spread of this type of ideology through social media among young people, especially young people at school. It is therefore necessary to identify these attempts to indoctrinate in schools and to find simple, effective and salutogenic countermeasures that strengthen healthy resilience against indoctrination. As a starting point, existing strategies, measures and tools will be identified, evaluated and optimized for implementation into the current situation in schools.
AWID is a two-year research and development project that will focus on an user-oriented, participatory, scientifically based, multi-media concept for teachers to combat any ideology that debases other human beings.
AWID is financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology in the context of the KIRAS security research funding programme.
