From 9 to 11 September 2025, a delegation from the Zurich Directorate of Education visited the Vocational School for Horticulture and Floristry in Vienna. Representatives of the Zurich Office for Vocational Education and Training, as well as teachers from the vocational schools for horticulture in Zurich and Wetzikon, exchanged ideas on current developments in vocational education.
The discussions focused on sustainable and climate-relevant training content, in particular the new apprenticeship profession of Climate Gardener, which combines ecological responsibility, climate protection, and modern green urban design. During company visits and a tour of the school’s garden in Vienna, participants were introduced to practice-oriented projects and innovative teaching methods.
The visit served to strengthen professional networks and to prepare future cooperation initiatives. With the support of the European Office of the Board of Education for Vienna, the exchange between the two cities will continue to grow through school visits, job shadowings, and internships within the framework of Erasmus+ and Movetia.
